LIKAT Opens up Bio Lab

The Kamer group in LIKAT opened up a lab dedicated to the design of artificial metalloenzymes for homogeneous catalysis. The newly equipped lab is staffed with a senior scientist, a PhD student and a lab assistant working on protein expression, bioconjugation of proteins with phosphorus-containing donor and catalytic reactions using the newly designed artificial metalloenzymes. The lab combines techniques from the field of molecular biology, synthesis of phosphorus(III) compounds, coordination chemistry and homogeneous catalysis. The combination of well-established protocols of homogeneous catalysis and biological macromolecules are part of LIKAT’s effort to contribute to the field of biocatalysis.
