Education:

    • High school diploma at Ravensberger Gymnasium Herford (2014)
    • Bachelor and Master of Science in Biochemistry at Bielefeld University (2014-2019)
    • PhD student in the research group of Prof. Uwe Bornscheuer at the University of Greifswald (since 2020)
Project

The aim of the PhD project is the development and optimization of scaffold proteins for artificial metalloproteins (ArMs). In collaboration with Jan-Ole Moritz (Prof. Dr. Johannes G. de Vries, LIKAT Rostock), new ArMs will be created that enable specific binding of target molecules, with a focus on the conversion of biomass-based feedstocks. In addition, knowledge and experience on protein expression and ArM proteins are shared within the ComBioCat network as with Hilario Huerta (Dr. Henrik Junge/ Prof. Matthias Beller, LIKAT Rostock), Maria Logotheti (Dr. Matthias Höhne, University of Greifswald) and Paul Hünemörder (Dr. Esteban Mejía, LIKAT Rostock).

Motivation

"What I like about the ComBioCat project is the interdisciplinarity and the ambitious goal of finding solutions to the major challenges in catalysis."

Who are we?

We are a good dozen young researchers and their supervisors and we develop novel catalysts and reactions for a sustainable, green chemistry. In doing so, we combine different approaches from our fields: Chemistry, Biochemistry and Protein Engineering as well as Plasma Physics.
